Dr. Martin McElya, DO, is a family medicine specialist in Dallas, Texas, with more than two decades of diverse clinical experience caring for adults and children at Neighborhood Medical Center.
Known affectionately by his patients as “Dr. Mac,” Dr. Martin McElya brings exceptional medical expertise and a deeply personal approach to every patient he serves. He earned his medical degree from the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth before completing his Family Practice Internship and Residency at Dallas Southwest Medical Center.
Dr. Mac is a Diplomate of the National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners and a longtime member of the American Medical Association, American Osteopathic Association, Texas Osteopathic Medical Association, and Dallas County Medical Society.
His dedication to caring for others extends far beyond his Dallas practice. Dr. Mac has volunteered on medical missions in Busia, Kenya, and the Dominican Republic, and provided emergency medical care to those affected by Hurricane Katrina.
He is an approved panel physician for Australia, Canada, and New Zealand, as well as a USCIS-designated civil surgeon for the United States. He also serves on the medical staff at Medical City Dallas and Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas. Throughout his career, Dr. Mac has remained committed to the future of medicine by mentoring and teaching medical students, interns, and residents within his practice.

Leading board-certified family physician, Dr. Martin G. McElya opened Neighborhood Medical Center in 1998 to provide superior, seven-day medical care to patients of all ages throughout the Dallas Fort Worth metroplex. Neighborhood Medical Center is owned and operated by Dr. McElya and his daughter, Alyssa McElya. Dr. McElya treats patients every day along with a first-rate team of experienced medical professionals. In fact, patients often see Dr. McElya, clad in a white lab coat and sneakers, dashing between exam rooms to ensure all his patients are seen by him directly in a timely manner.
Neighborhood Medical Center has its own in-house lab and provides X-rays onsite. The practice handles family medicine, urgent care, occupational medicine, worker’s compensation, immigration exams, routine physicals, vaccinations and management of chronic conditions that range from high cholesterol to diabetes. In addition, Dr. McElya is the only physician certified in the state of Texas to conduct immigration medical exams for Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the United States.
