Leading board-certified family physician, Dr. Martin G. Neighborhood Medical Center has its own in-house lab and provides X-rays onsite. The practice handles family medicine, urgent care, occupational medicine, worker’s compensation, immigration exams, routine physicals, vaccinations and management of chronic conditions that range from high cholesterol to diabetes. In addition, Dr. McElya is the only physician certified in the state of Texas to conduct immigration medical exams for Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the United States.
Dr. McElya brings over two decades of diverse clinical experience treating adults and children at Neighborhood Medical Center. He has worked as a volunteer providing medical missions work in both Bussia, Kenya and the Dominican Republic. He has also provided emergency medical services to the victims of Hurricane Katrina.
Dr. McElya earned his medical degree from The University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth, Texas and completed his Family Practice Internship and Residency training at Dallas Southwest Medical Center. He is a diplomat of the National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners and is a long-standing member of the American Medical Association (AMA), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), the Texas Osteopathic Medical Association (TOMA), and the Dallas County Medical Society (DCMS). He also is a designated civil surgeon for Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the United States. He is a staff physician at Medical City Dallas and Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas and has supervised and taught medical students, interns and residents at his practice.
