Yesterday I went to see Dr. "Mac" with a severe ear ache. As usual, Dr. Mac was very personable with me, taking the time to listen to my concerns and answering any questions I had. These days doctors try to get as many patients in and out the door as they can and this experience has the potential to become very clinical and business-like. I would like to stress that Dr. McElya's office, while taking care of business, also treats each patient as a human being, not just as a "clinical" patient, but someone who deserves dignity, respect and a listening ear. In today's rush-rush, get-'em-in and get-'em-out atmosphere, Dr. McElya stands out as a doctor with heart who truly believes that, behind every patient is a person, and each person receives the best care that he can give them.
