Children don't get sick according to a schedule and the last thing a parent wants to do is spend time and energy trying to get their children a doctor's appointment. Most physicians' offices are not open evenings and weekends and many don't even accept new patients. Visits to hospital emergency departments are expensive and time consuming and many people are reluctant to visit an urgent care center because of concerns about quality of care and impersonal service. At Neighborhood Medical Center we specialize in family practice. Unlike many urgent care centers that are owned by large corporations and staffed by part-time providers, Neighborhood Medical Center is a family practice with extended hours. Because we specialize in family medicine we are uniquely qualified to address medical concerns in a wide variety of areas. For this very reason, pediatric care is one of our strengths. Our staff manages sore throats and upper respiratory tract infections with the same ease with which they handle lacerations and rashes. Many of our pediatric patients are managed on Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD, ADHD) medications with good results and of course well child visits, sports physicals and immunization administrations can be completed on any day of the week. Our Medical Director/Owner, Dr. McElya is a Dallas native that has practiced in Dallas for more than 10 years; he is board certified in family practice and has staff privileges at Medical City Dallas and Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas. We offer great flexibility in our hours of operations (open 7 days/nights per week). Appointments are welcome, but not required and patients are encouraged to visit us on a walk-in basis at their convenience. Come by, visit our office and meet our friendly staff.
